Writing Activity

For this activity, you will be viewing a picture. You will be asked to write a description of what you think might be happening in the picture. The workshop facilitator will let you know which video you will watch.

(This activity is adapted from an activity originally developed by CAST and included in the book “Teaching Every Student in the Digital Age”.)

For this activity, you will need:

  • A blank sheet of paper
  • Something to write with
  • Earbuds or headphones for the device you will use to view the video

After Writing

Have some participants read their descriptions aloud. What similarities and differences do you notice in different people's descriptions? What might account for the differences?
