Have you ever wanted to create your own screencasts, livestream videos, or video projects for other formats?

OBS, or Open Broadcaster Software – is a powerful open-source program for PC, Mac, or Linux. Are you looking to make your own screencasts? Are you wanting to make green screen or chroma key effect videos? Are you wanting to livestream an event on YouTube? All of these and more are possible with OBS.

OBS has more features than I can mention in this 90-second episode, but that’s an indication of just how powerful this program is. The best thing is, you don’t have to know how to use every feature before you can use OBS effectively. Get a camera and an external microphone, and you are ready to go!

When I first learned about OBS, I needed a tool that would help me make a newscast-style green screen effect video. So, I learned just the parts of OBS that I needed to make that happen. Later, as I learned more about what OBS could do, I learned how to do new things with it.

If you stream a green-screen effect video on YouTube, you are still barely scratching the surface of what OBS can do. But that’s okay. Using a tech tool should never be about doing everything the tool can do. It is all about doing everything you need to do. Get started at OBSproject.com.
